The February meeting of the Derby Diocesan Synod convened last weekend at County Hall, Matlock, with growth as a key theme across the agenda.

Bishop Alastair said today that it was a “delight and honour” for Derby and Derbyshire that HM The Queen will visit Derby Cathedral for the 2010 Maundy Thursday service on April 1st.

This new post is an expression of the diocese's commitment to the vital place of lay ministry in encouraging growth in mission and ministry throughout our churches.

An illustrated presentation on the life and work of Henry Cavendish (“The man who weighed the world”) will be given on Wednesday 24th February.
