Who are we?
The Council for Social Responsibility consists of paid and
volunteer staff.

Office Staff
There are two advisers posts: Church and
Society Officer held by Richard Jordan and Community Action
Officers: job-shared by Joy Bates and Stella Collishaw. Rita
Brierley is the secretary at Social Responsibility. Additional
volunteer support is given by Win Buchan.
Chesterfield Archdeaconry:
Rev John Hargreaves: Vicar at Shirebrook,
East Scarsdale Team in Bolsover.
Mrs Christine McMullen: Director of Pastoral
Studies at Northern Ordination College and a Reader at Fairfield
Buxton.
Derby Archdeaconry:
Rev Brian Leathers, vicar at Stapenhill,
south Derbyshire.
Rev Fiona Ballentyne, Chaplin at HMP Sudbury.
There are currently vacancies on the Council
for lay representatives. Interested
parties should discuss their interest with the Chairman or
one of the officers.
Specialists:
Ecumenism/ regeneration: Rev Bob Hollings:
Vicar of Newhall, Swadlincote, south Derbyshire, former coalfields
area.
Mothers Union: Mrs Angela Bird: social
concern representative for Diocesan Mothers’ Union and
a parishioner in Bakewell.
Mental Health: Vacant: Mental
Health Chaplain at the DRI, South Derbyshire.
Disability: Mr Peter Edwards: Former
Reader at Shirebrook until he moved to Notts. He works in Nottingham
County Council, Culture and Community Department as a Sports
Development Officer for Disabled People.
Mr Phil Morris: lives in Brimmington where
he is a Churchwarden and works for the Citizens Advice Bureau
in North East Derbyshire.
Mr Ivor Leigh: lay PCC member at Christchurch
Chesterfield also involved in the bus project, Stonegravels
parish centre and a school foundation govenor.
Mr Ian McLachlan: Senior Probation Officer.
He has worked in Community and now works in Prison at HMP Foston.
He has been a member of CSR for the last 3 years.

by the Bishop who hold a brief for a particular area of work
linked to this council. They are:
