Helen Proudfoot, the Diocesan Children's Workers'
Adviser
Helen is married with three grown up children.
She has lived in Duffield for 13 years and worships
at St Alkmund’s Parish church in the village.
Her family has lived in several places around
the country and has enjoyed worshipping in Baptist,
Methodist and Free Evangelical Churches.
Helen says she has always been involved in children’s
work and has a passion to share God’s love
with children.
Currently she leads the Sunday Children’s
work at St Alkmund’s. Also, along with other
members from the church, she visits the local
primary school, William Gilbert, each week with
Open the Book.
Helen also enjoys drama and spends most Thursdays
with the SCAT
team.
She also loves cooking and has managed to incorporate
this into her work - check out a FEAST
evening near you. Helen also enjoys fell walking.
For 20 hours a week in her role as Diocesan Children's
Workers' Adviser, Helen seeks to encourage, help,
resource, train and advise you in your work with
children. Please don’t hesitate to contact
her if you have a query, are looking for a good
resource, or want help to start or develop your
work.
She said: " I came across this acrostic
poem written by a group of children. It encapsulates
beautifully some of what I hope to be able to
do:-
Encouragement
Never uses force
Cares about what
happens to someone else
Offers love
Understands
Really listens
Always helps
Gently persuades
Encouragement is
Making
Each person feel
Needed and
Taking special care
of those who need a little more help." |
