About the Diocese
The Diocese in Action
Ministry through the Diocese's Boards, Councils and Committees

Pastoral Committee

Under The Pastoral Measure the committee has a particular regard to making provision for the cure of souls including the spheres of work and conditions of those engaged in the cure, and to have regard to the traditions, needs and characteristics of individual parishes. A key responsibility is to offer advice to the Diocesan Bishop.

Through “A Better Way” various policy and resource documents and “Renewing Ministry” the committee has the structure to manage change and is fully involved in the consultation process for new legislation. Members serve on both the Diocesan Committee and the Archdeaconry one. The former generally deals with policy issues and the latter with more detailed work, linking also with the rural Dean and the Deanery Pastoral Committee.
