The group’s work focuses on aspects of spiritual development in the dicoese. It organises events to support the ministry of Spiritual Directors, and maintains contact with the National Network for Spiritual Director Training and with the Retreat Association. It is available to help with events such as quiet days, retreats, and prayer workshops, and to share the exploration of spirituality as the relationship between faith and the whole of life. In recent years the Group has also been responsible for producing the Diocesan Lenten Prayer booklet.

Bishop’s Adviser for Spiritual Direction: Any lay or clergy person seeking guidance/companionship in prayer or spiritual growth is welcome to contact the Bishop's Adviser, who will usually arrange an interview in which particular needs and expectations are explored in complete confidence with a view to discovering a suitable spiritual guide.
