Youth and childrens survey 2011

The Board of Education is conducting a survey into the state of youth and childrens work in Derby Diocese.

A copy of this survey has gone to every PCC secretary (they also have am SAE) as well as to each incumbent and each youth and childrens leader on the old database.

We would be grateful if this survey could be returned to Alistair Langton at Derby Church House as sson as possible.

Youth work essentials

 

A four-week course for Youth Leaders looking at the basics of working with young people in a church setting and providing support and guidance for leaders from churches in the Diocese.

Sessions include "The Aims of Christian Youth Work", "Youthwork, the Church & Generation Y", "Ideas & Resources" and "Discipline".

 

 

Spectrum

What Spectrum is about?

Spectrum is a major inter-Church training programme designed to equip Christians with the skills and confidence needed to develop their work with young people. It is a recognised course covering many essential areas in youth work.

A youth leaders training course, like a first aid course needs a number of weeks to provide the basic training needed to work with teenagers in the church. Topics covered include:

Members behaving badly

Your youth group is revolting and you don't know how to handle them!!

Members behaving badly is a two hour, one off course for leaders which aims to explore why young people misbehave in a youth-club setting and offers some strategies for dealing positively with them.

 

 

Child protection issues

A one or two evening course for children's and youth leaders on all elements of safe working practice and child abuse issues. Every course is prepared to meet YOUR church's needs.

 

 

First Aid for Children and Youth Leaders

This certificated course will cover the essential elements of what to do whilst waiting for an ambulance to arrive. It will cover the aims of First Aid, what to put in a First Aid kit, how to deal with an unconscious person, resuscitation, treating burns and bleeding, and what to do if a child suffers from asthma, epilepsy or diabetes.

It is suitable for anyone who regularly comes into contact with children or young people.

Our trainer is a qualified and experienced First Aid Trainer who has worked for Red Cross, St Johns and Broxtowe College.
