Mission and Ministry Team
Last Updated on Monday, 10 October 2011 14:56
The Mission and Ministry Team exists to support individuals, parishes and MMAs in their God-given call to be a missionary people. If you think that the Team maybe able to offer support to you in any way, please contact the relevant team member or get in touch with Rev'd Andy Broom, the Director of the Team.
The statement below reflects the Team's understanding of its purpose and its desire to support God's work amongst the parishes and MMAs of the diocese.
“It’s not the church of God that has a mission in the world, but the God of mission who has a church in the world.”
(Tim Dearborn, cited in Mission Shaped Church)
We believe that mission is at the very heart of God and is the reason why we are called to be a missionary church. The God of mission invites his people to discern what they are being called to do, and to be, as they share in his mission. This calling will vary over time and in different places and God’s people need to be alert to the direction of the Spirit as they seek to live out God’s love in their local context.
The Mission and Ministry Team will serve, enable and encourage individuals, parishes and MMAs to become more effective in fulfilling God’s call to be a missionary people.
