Lent 2012: Year of Vocations
The Diocese of Derby has released a 2012 Lent Course entitled ‘Vocation, Vocation, Vocation: Called to be, called to follow, called to serve’ .
The Course is designed to allow groups to choose the style that best suits them; also included are suggested films, Bible study, prompts for group discussion, individual reflection and prayers.
The material has been prepared to encourage people across the Diocese to focus on a ‘2012: A Year of Vocations’ and is available on the Diocese of Derby website www.derby.anglican.org .
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (22 February) and lasts until Easter (8 April) , It marks the time spent by Jesus in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights.
The Bishop of Derby, Dr Alastair Redfern, says: “I recently talked about this theme to the Diocesan Synod. Lent, for the Christian, is an excellent time to consider our calling to make a difference in the community.”
