The Spiritual Journey in a Scientific Age

The Bishop of Derby, Dr Alastair Redfern, will be offering a series of Lent addresses on “The Spiritual Journey in a Scientific Age” at St James, Barlborough, on consecutive Sundays throughout  Lent from 27 February (from 6pm).

Each week a different aspect will be covered including “Faith as a common Foundation”, "Faith and Clarity”, “The Need for Results”, “Moral Values and Vision” and “The Old and the New”.

Lent marks the time spent by Jesus in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights. It begins on Ash Wednesday (22 February) and lasts until Easter (8 April).

Dr Redfern said today: “This is an area of theology which a lot of people are interested in and I am enjoying preparing for these talks. Our vocation as Christians involves us being able to embrace all of the key issues which the world conjures up both at us and for us and we will wrestle with several of them during these Sunday evenings. I hope people will feel welcome.”
