Out task is to serve the Diocese so that our worship of God and witness to Jesus Christ can flourish locally, through parishes and Mission and Ministry Areas, and also to encourage us to offer Christian insights and loving service to the formation of community in the political, civic, commercial and voluntary sector. We are delivering these objectives through a revised structure set out in a document available for download on the preceeding governance page under the title 'Bishop's Advisory Groups'.
The team brings together a wide range of experience and expertise and, through our various roles, we seek to enable resourcing, relationships and visioning for the flourishing of churches, communities, and each person who is called to make a more particular contribution.
An overarching framework for our work together is provided by the priorities of the Bishop’s Council:
- Enabling evangelism and witness
- Releasing new ministries and refreshing established ones
- Building confidence and growth in faith
and the outcomes of my Visitation in 2008:
- Immersing all that we do in Prayer
- New ways of working: Being the Body of Christ
- Growing Church and Community Connection
- Equipping the Saints: Finance and stewardship
- Administration and Communication
At present we have particular focus upon:
- Supporting our primary mission through the development of Mission Action Plans
- Offering appropriate support and development for all involved in public licensed ministry
- Creating a deployment strategy in each archdeaconry to enable best use of our ministerial resources
- Developing opportunities for learning about the Christian faith and discerning vocations
- Providing resources for an engaging public witness for the Christian faith
- Creating systems of oversight and encouragement that bind us together in a lively witness to the power of God’s love in our lives.
There will be regular updates as we unfold this agenda and work with others to discern God’s call and challenge.
Pleas pray for us, and feel free to engage any of us in further discussion if you have ideas to contribute or suggestions to make.
