Bishops, clergy and laity from across the Diocese will gather in the Council Chamber at County Hall, Matlock on Saturday, 16 May 2009 to consider an important agenda.
The Bishop has invited Bishop Marandih, Bishop of Patna and Deputy Moderator of the Church of North India, to give the Presidential address to Synod members.
One of the most important agenda items is the adoption of last year's reports of the boards, councils and committees of the Diocese.
Later in the morning, Synod members will have the chance to discuss a proposed new post, the Director of Mission and Ministry. The job description includes the co ordination and leading of the work of diocesan advisers in liaison with appropriate ecumenical groups.
The Board of Finance will also present the latest Budget for 2010. At this point the Chairman of the Board of Finance will move: "That this Synod receives the draft Budget for 2010 and requests the Board of Finance, after due consultation, to prepare a final Budget".
"It is a packed agenda with lots for people to discuss and to take back to their parishes. I am particularly delighted that Bishop Marandih can join us in Matlock," said Bishop Alastair today.
