Diocesan Day of Prayer

(24/07/2009)

A date has been set for the Diocesan Day of Prayer 2009.

It will take place on Saturday 26 September (10am - 3.30 pm at all venues) throughout the Diocese.

The Bishop of Derby, Dr Alastair Redfern, is inviting all members of the Diocese to join in the special day which encourages people to think about the mission and work of the wider church.

"The Diocesan Day of Prayer is growing. For the past few years we have held a day of prayer at one location. This year the event will be held in four locations, reflecting the rich mixture and depth of spiritual skills with which the Diocese is blessed," said Dr Redfern today.

The Day of Prayer will be held at

  • St Alkmund's, Derby, led by Garrie Griffiths
  • St Helen's, Darley Dale, led by Judith Crane
  • Melbourne Parish Church, led by Bishop Alastair
  • St Mary & St Laurence, Bolsover, led by Trevor Hicks

Those who wish to attend should bring a packed lunch if coming for the whole day. Tea and coffee will be available at all venues.
