BBC Producer joins honorary canons

Bishop Alastair, has invited Revd Stephen Shipley, a BBC religion & ethics producer who is based in Buxton and who assists as a priest in the Diocese, to be an honorary Canon of Derby Cathedral.
Stephen works on major religious programmes for the BBC and is a well known producer of some of the Corporation's most celebrated radio programmes, including Choral Evensong.
He was ordained priest in 1988 after studying for the priesthood in Cambridge. He then served the Church in the Diocese of Ely where he was Curate of St Margaret's Ipswich before becoming Priest in Charge of Stuntney as well as working at Ely Cathedral as Minor Canon and Precentor.
Stephen said today: "I am delighted to have been invited by the Bishop to join the Cathedral's College of Honorary Canons and I hope I can use this opportunity to help shape the Cathedral's future life and culture. I hope too that this recognition of my ministry will continue to inspire my work in the parishes of Buxton and in the BBC's Religion and Ethics department."
