Ride & Stride, 12 September
(17/08/2009)
Bishop Alastair and his wife, Caroline, will be taking part in this annual sponsored event which raises money for the maintenance and repair of churches and chapels in Derbyshire.
The Bishop and his wife will depart from Bolsover at 10.30am and cycle on a circular route via Scarcliffe, Upper Langwith, Shirebrook, Pleasley and Glapwell to Ault Hucknall, where they hope to arrive at around 3.30-3.45pm. Others are invited to join them at various points along the way to ride alongside.
This annual event is organised by the Derbyshire Churches and Chapels Preservation Trust to raise funds for churches and chapels of all denominations. The idea is to sponsor people to cycle or walk to as many participating churches as possible on the day. 50% of the money raised goes back to individuals for their own church or chapel, with the rest going to the DCCPT. Last year the event raised £19,275 and it is hoped to improve on this in 2009. Further information is available on the DCCPT web site www.derbyshirehistoricbuildings.org.uk/bikeride.php.
If you wish to sponsor Bishop Alastair and Caroline, please print off the payment form and send with your cheque, made payable to the Derbyshire Churches & Chapels Preservation Trust, to:
