The Bishop of Derby’s Harvest Appeal 2009 will be supported by two musical events this month:
Heavy metal at Chesterfield, 18 November
On Wednesday 18th, Revd Mark Broomhead (Pioneer Minister in the North Wingfield Team Ministry) will be performing at a heavy metal concert at SS Augustine, Chesterfield at 7.30pm to launch the Christmas CD of his group, Sanctum. Contributions from each CD sale will go to the Harvest Appeal.
Concert and Service, Derby Cathedral, 25 November
Christian Aid is holding a reflective concert in support of the Bishop's Harvest Appeal in order to celebrate the Appeal and raise final funds. Christian Aid will receive 50% of the money raised from the collection for its work in India.
Bishop Alastair will also speak at the event, which will feature soloists from Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Ashbourne playing the harp, trombone and cello as well as a performance by the choir of St. Oswald's Church Ashbourne.
There will also be the opportunity to hear from Ella Sonawane, secretary of ISPCK women empowerment programme (the other Indian organisation benefiting from the appeal).
The evening is being hosted by the Cathedral at 7.30pm on Wednesday 25 November and will last for one hour.
