The Revd Dave Battison, previously Pioneer Minister covering Matlock Bank and Matlock St Giles, Diocese of Derby, has been appointed Interim Assistant Curate (to be known as Associate Priest) of Walton St John in the same diocese. Mr Battison will be licensed on Thursday 25 March at 9am by the Bishop of Derby.
The Revd Imogen Black, Priest in Charge of Somercotes and Assistant Curate in Alfreton, Riddings and Ironville, Diocese of Derby, has also been appointed Acting Area Dean of Hardwick. The Revd Karen Bradley, Vicar in the East Scarsdale Team, and the Revd Rachel Gouldthorpe, Vicar of Bolsover, have also been appointed Assistant Acting Area Deans in the same deanery. These posts will be for one year in the first instance.
The Revd Mark Broomhead, Pioneer Minister to the Order of the Black Sheep, Diocese of Derby, has been seconded to the Discipleship, Mission and Ministry Team at Church House as Pioneer Development Officer for a period of one year. Mr Broomhead will start with immediate effect.
Mrs Halina Johnson, Senior Executive Assistant to the Bishop of Derby, will be leaving for a new post in the financial services industry. Halina's last day in the office will be Thursday 1 April.
Bishop Libby says, ' Halina has been a much appreciated colleague in the Bishop's Office. She has made a significant impact in the time she has been with us during a period of considerable change. We are grateful for all Halina has done, and wish her well for her future. She goes with the assurance of my continuing prayers.'
Rachel Morris has decided to stand down from her position as Diocesan Secretary of the Derby Diocesan Board of Finance. She will also leave her role as Chapter Steward at Derby Cathedral. Rachel has been with the Cathedral and latterly the Diocese for six years in which time she has led positive change. Bishop Libby says “We are very grateful to Rachel for the faithful leadership she has given during a time of considerable change: her contribution to Diocesan life has been extensive. I have valued her partnership and friendship. We wish her well and assure her of our continuing prayers.” Rachel said “I am grateful for the opportunities during this time and extend my heartfelt thanks to all colleagues, volunteers and partners across the Diocese and beyond who have helped achieve great things. I wish all those involved with the Cathedral and the Diocese the very best for the future.” Rachel left on February 28 with our thanks for her significant contribution and our best wishes for the future.
Nadine Waldron of Eddowes Waldron, Solicitors, will retire as the Diocesan Registrar on 5th March 2021 in line with Section 32 Ecclesiastical Offices and Care of Church Measure 2018. The process to appoint a new, permanent registrar is in progress. Under Section 31 of the same Measure, in her capacity as Registrar, Nadine has appointed a Deputy Registrar within Eddowes Waldron, Catherine Hackney, until a new, permanent registrar is appointed, which is hoped to be in the Autumn. Additional registrar expertise and support will be available to Catherine from a regional registrar, and sought as necessary via Eddowes Waldron. As a continuing partner, Nadine will support Catherine during this transitional period and up to and including the handover to the permanent appointment. The Revd Canon Peter Walley’s appointment as Acting Archdeacon of Derby has been extended until 31 December 2021 as discussions continue about the shape of a longer-term appointment.
