Dan Leathers

Dan Leathers, a former Student worker and Derby University Lay Chaplain, is to be the new Curate at St James’ and St Luke’s Churches in Glossop. He will be ordained by the Bishop of Derby, Alastair Redfern, at a service in St Oswald’s Ashbourne on the 5th July (10.45am).

After moving to Burton when he was 10, Dan has spent most of his life in Derbyshire. Meeting Claire at Derby University they are now married with two sons, Josh (4) & Peter (7 months).

Before training at Ridley Hall Theological College (Cambridge) Dan worked a dual post; as Student and ministry support worker at St Alkmund’s Church Derby, and as Lay Chaplain and Communications officer at Derby University’s Chaplaincy.

“At St Alkmund’s I loved joining students on their life journey and seeing God’s love for them. In the Chaplaincy I was excited seeing how people of faith and no-faith could work together for God’s purposes of peace and justice even where some of the workers didn’t yet believe.”

“I’m really excited to be joining in the adventure of God’s is moving and working in Glossop”

Dan enjoys playing with the boys, a good pint with friends, and a good sci-fi box set to unwind to with Claire.
