Sue Ives-Smith a former Licensed Reader is to be the new curate of St. John the Baptist Church at Tideswell. After being ordained deacon by the Bishop of Derby, at a service in St Oswald’s Parish Church, Ashbourne at 10.45 on Sunday 5th July 2015 at 10.45am.
She was born in Coventry, but moved at five years old to a small village called Stoke Golding, on the Leicestershire, Warwickshire border, before moving to Swadlincote in Derbyshire. Sue is married to Dave and they have two grown up children, Rebecca and Martin.
Sue completed her training at St John’s College, Nottingham, staying there Monday to Friday each week, and really appreciated the sense of community that she experienced there.
“I am really looking forward to serving in, and being part of the vibrant village community that exists in Tideswell and the surrounding villages”.
