Paul Pritchard, retired 'Head of Learning and Development' for the JCB Group is to be ordained into the Church of England as deacon by the Bishop of Derby, Alastair Redfern at a special service in Derby Cathedral on Sunday 30th June (10.45am).

He will serve as an Assistant Curate in the Parishes of St. John the Evangelist and All Saints Mickleover.

With his wife Elaine, he has lived and worshipped in Mickleover for 22 years and been a Licensed Reader for 16 years. Paul has two married daughters, four grandchildren and one step son.

Paul has had a very rewarding career with global engineering companies where he has specialised in developing employees.

During his time at JCB he headed the JCB Academy Project which created the first school of its type at Rocester for six hundred 14 to 19 year olds, which opened in 2010.

The school’s mission is "developing engineers and business leaders for the future". He was the first Chair of Governors.

Mr Pritchard said:

“I have been privileged to have been involved in many fascinating projects in different parts of the world, but God leading me into this new calling is very humbling and exciting.

I look forward to working as part of the team in Mickleover and serving those in the area especially in these challenging and changing times"

After serving as deacon for a year, Paul will be eligible to be considered for ordination to the priesthood.
