The Revd Kevin Ball, Rector of Calow and Sutton-cum-Duckmanton, has announced his retirement. Mr Ball’s last day in post will be 30 April, with his retirement taking effect from 1 May 2021. Mr Ball will be staying in the diocese in retirement. 

The Revd Ed Backhouse, Assistant Curate of Aston on Trent, Elvaston, Weston on Trent and Shardlow, Barrow upon Trent with Twyford and Swarkestone, has been appointed Priest-in-Charge of St Oswald’s Tile Hill, Diocese of Coventry. Mr Backhouse hopes to take up his new role in the Summer. 

The Revd Dwayne Engh, Vicar of Coventry St Mary Magdalen, Diocese of Coventry, has been appointed Ordained Ministries Development Officer, Diocese of Derby. Mr Engh will start on and be licensed in his new role on Monday 26 April by the Bishop of Derby. 

The Revd Nicky Fenton will start as Chaplain to the Bishop of Derby and Residentiary Canon of Derby Cathedral, Diocese of Derby, on Monday 1 March, with her licensing as Chaplain and collation as Residentiary Canon on Wednesday 3 March by the Bishop of Derby. Mrs Fenton will be installed as Residentiary Canon at a later date. 

The Revd Charles Jefferson, Interim Priest-in-Charge of the benefices of Walton-on-Trent with Croxall, Rosliston with Linton and Castle Gresley; of Seale and Lullington with Coton-in-the-Elms; and of Stapenhill Immanuel, has announced his retirement. Mr Jefferson’s last day in post will be 31 March, with his retirement taking effect from 1 April, 2021. Mr Jefferson will be moving away from the diocese.

The Revd Carollyn McDonald, Priest-in-Charge of Fenny Bentley, Thorpe, Tissington, Parwich and Alsop-en-le-Dale, and Acting Diocesan Director of Ordinands, has also been appointed Acting Area Dean of Carsington in the diocese for a fixed term of up to six months from 14 January 2021. 

Mrs Christine McMullen, Lay Chair of Peak and Chair of the House of Laity, Diocese of Derby, has also been appointed Acting Warden of Readers in the same diocese for a fixed term of up to three months from 14 December 2020. 

The Revd Colin Pearson, Priest-in-Charge of Chapel-en-le-Frith and Area Dean of the Peak Deanery, has been appointed Area Dean of Salford and Leigh Deanery, Diocese of Manchester. Mr Pearson will be licensed to his new post on Sunday 6 June 2021. 

The Revd Canon David Truby, Team Rector of the Wirksworth Team Ministry, has also been appointed Assistant Area Dean of Carsington in the same diocese for a fixed term of up to six months from 14 January 2021.
