Platinum Jubilee anthem premiere
‘Rise up and serve, thanking God for Her Majesty…’ That’s the message from the Commonwealth Choir in a new anthem commissioned by HOPE Together for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
With singers and musicians from as far afield as Australia and Canada, India and England, the Commonwealth Choir’s performance of ‘Rise Up & Serve’ is being premiered at Spring Harvest, the inter-church conference taking place at Skegness and Minehead in the weeks before and after Easter.
The anthem has been written by song writers Graham Kendrick, Mal Pope and the contemporary worship band Rend Collective for choirs everywhere to sing at Platinum Jubilee events and street parties this summer. British Gospel singer Muyiwa Olarewaju OBE adds his own words of tribute to the Queen in Hausa, Swahli, Igbo and Yoruba, with the Aldgate School Children’s Choir led by Pat Bilborough adding an intergenerational sound.
The Commonwealth Choir also includes Rend Collective from Northern Ireland, Darlene Zschech from Australia, Brian Doerksen from Canada, Mal Pope and the Morriston Orpheus Choir from Wales, Morris Matavuvale from Fiji, Sheldon Bangera from India, as well as Voices from the Nations percussion, the All Souls Orchestra, the Regent Hall Band of The Salvation Army, David Grant MBE, Graham Kendrick, Lou Fellingham, and Sounds of New Wine choir with Creative Director Lawrence Johnson.
Listen to the anthem then download the words and music from www.theplatinumjubilee.com/sing.

Bell Ringing information
Bell ringing in churches across the UK and Commonwealth will be marking the Platinum Jubilee with a coordinated call to ring to coincide with the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s taking place on Friday, 3 June 2022.. There are also plans to ring across London on the Sunday as part of the Pageant. These are the two coordinated activities the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers is supporting. The Platinum Jubilee weekend lends itself to plenty of opportunities to ring including the opportunity to ring between 19:52 to 20:22 on Sunday 5th June to close the extended weekends celebrations.
Introducing the RSCM Platinum Project
RSCM have launched their ‘Platinum Project’, a special choral music commission from award-winning composer Thomas Hewitt Jones to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen in June 2022. Written as an uplifting, 4-minute anthem that is enjoyable to sing ‘In Our Service’ is adaptable for different ensembles/situations: 4-part/SATB choir and organ, unison/2-part with piano and leadsheet, and a full symphonic orchestration available for hire. The text has a deliberately wide appeal to ensure it has a lasting value beyond the Jubilee itself. Music packs are available to download here together with optional backing tracks, videos and other resources to inspire others to take part. There are 3 different versions in the download package, which can be photocopied for use by choirs in any combination. We are also offering a free zoom teaching session for choir trainers on Wednesday 1 March at 6pm (GMT). To register to attend 'Introducing "In Our Service" - Teaching Tips for Choir Trainers' click here.
Choir competition launched to record a Platinum Jubilee anthem
Choirs are invited to record a specially-written Platinum Jubilee anthem to be released on YouTube featuring choirs from around the world.
The competition, supported by Premier Christian Radio, will bring together choirs from around the Commonwealth.
The new anthem ‘Rise Up and Serve’ has been commissioned by HOPE Together and partners, and written by song writers Graham Kendrick, Mal Pope and the contemporary worship band Rend Collective.

The video will be produced by Les Moir from the Word & Worship Trust who played a significant role in bringing together The UK Blessing, which has been watched by nearly 5 million people.
Churches are also invited to bring their communities together to sing the anthem at street parties and special events over the Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend.
