Libby Lane is now legally the Bishop of Derby

The Rt Revd Libby Lane legally became the Bishop of Derby on Monday, 11 February 2019.

At a service at St Mary-le-Bow in London, The Archbishop of Canterbury confirmed Bishop Libby's Election by the College of Canons.

It was attended by members of Libby's family, Bishop Jan, Archdeacon Carol and other representatives from the Diocese.

There are still a couple of things that have to happen before Bishop Libby takes up her duties in Derbyshire - she is expected pay homage to Her Majesty the Queen in March and she will be installed at Derby Cathedral later in the year.

As Bishop Libby won’t be joining us until then, the Archbishop of Canterbury has requested that Bishop Jan remains Acting Bishop of Derby until Bishop Libby is installed.

The date for Bishop Libby’s installation will be announced as soon as she has paid homage to the Queen.
