Associate Minister in the Benefice of Littleover and Blagreaves and the Parish of Findern

The Parish of Littleover and Blagreaves in south Derby is one of the largest urban parishes in the Diocese with approx. 25,000 people.

Findern is a neighbouring village with a large new estate being built on the fringes and close to the boundary with the city.

There is an abundance of schools across the two parishes – 14 in total – including the city’s two private schools, two senior schools as well as multiple infant, junior and primary schools.

The Royal Derby Hospital is also nearby with many of the 2,000+ staff living locally.

St Peter’s is the worship centre in Littleover and Blagreaves and All Saints’ in Findern – both with a relaxed, open evangelical style.

St Peter’s offers a service on Sunday at 10am (approx. 95+ attendance) and midweek on a Wednesday at 10.30am (25+), while All Saints’ currently offers Sunday at 10am with a USA of about 15 people.

The post-holder will offer 2.5 days per week in addition to Sundays, dividing ministry across both parishes.

St Peter’s parish has a new Mission Action Plan and part of the focus for the new associate minister will be to help All Saints’ parish refocus ministry within the new estates and with the two primary schools.

The ministry team includes one incumbent across both parishes, a curate in training, support from two retired priests and three readers.  This is a lively and inclusive team with an outward focus and strong pastoral heart.
