Our parish is located in Glossop, a town situated in very beautiful countryside within the Peak District National Park, and just a 30 minute train ride from the centre of Manchester.
After a difficult period in the life of our parish we are in a process of recovery under the gentle, humble, Spirit-filled guidance of a retired vicar who has been sent by the diocese to help us move on. We hope our new Interim Priest in Charge will soon join us on our journey, get to know us in our weakness, help us regain confidence, and work creatively with us to discern the way forward.
They will share with us in a fresh vision and help us develop a parish Mission Action Plan. At this time, we know we need to rediscover our identity in Christ and learn, once again, to work together as the priesthood of all believers.
We hope for someone who will recognise the value of our various congregations and their distinct styles, enabling each to flourish separately, as well as to rejoice together as the body of Christ.
We are looking for:
- A leader with integrity and wisdom who will be led by the Spirit humbly to articulate the truths of the Bible for all ages and in various settings.
- A good listener as well as a good teacher, courageous in faith and bold in proclamation of the Gospel.
- A collaborative leader, who will work eagerly with others in Glossopdale who love Jesus and have a shared vision to see his name proclaimed and his kingdom grow.
- A child of God, deeply rooted in personal prayer, to help us all establish firm foundations for new ventures in mission, in God’s good time and with His guidance.
This appointment for an Interim Priest in Charge is for a three-year term (renewable), to care pastorally for the congregations, to invest in developing the team and to work with the PCC and those in leadership roles to set mission priorities. The person appointed will work collaboratively with clergy and laity across the town to reimagine and revitalise mission and ministry for the whole town.
There is a modern 4 bedroom vicarage on an attractive estate at the foot of the Snake Pass over the Pennines.
