The Revd Dave Battison, previously Pioneer Minister covering Matlock Bank and Matlock St Giles, Diocese of Derby, has been appointed Interim Assistant Curate (to be known as Associate Priest) of Walton St John in the same diocese. Mr Battison will be licensed on Thursday 25 March at 9am by the Bishop of Derby. 

The Revd Imogen Black, Priest in Charge of Somercotes and Assistant Curate in Alfreton, Riddings and Ironville, Diocese of Derby, has also been appointed Acting Area Dean of Hardwick. The Revd Karen Bradley, Vicar in the East Scarsdale Team, and the Revd Rachel Gouldthorpe, Vicar of Bolsover, have also been appointed Assistant Acting Area Deans in the same deanery. These posts will be for one year in the first instance. 

The Revd Mark Broomhead, Pioneer Minister to the Order of the Black Sheep, Diocese of Derby, has been seconded to the Discipleship, Mission and Ministry Team at Church House as Pioneer Development Officer for a period of one year. Mr Broomhead will start with immediate effect. 

Mrs Halina Johnson, Senior Executive Assistant to the Bishop of Derby, will be leaving for a new post in the financial services industry. Halina's last day in the office will be Thursday 1 April. 
Bishop Libby says, ' Halina has been a much appreciated colleague in the Bishop's Office. She has made a significant impact in the time she has been with us during a period of considerable change. We are grateful for all Halina has done, and wish her well for her future. She goes with the assurance of my continuing prayers.'


Rachel Morris has decided to stand down from her position as Diocesan Secretary of the Derby Diocesan Board of Finance. She will also leave her role as Chapter Steward at Derby Cathedral.  Rachel has been with the Cathedral and latterly the Diocese for six years in which time she has led positive change.  Bishop Libby says “We are very grateful to Rachel for the faithful leadership she has given during a time of considerable change: her contribution to Diocesan life has been extensive. I have valued her partnership and friendship. We wish her well and assure her of our continuing prayers.”  Rachel said “I am grateful for the opportunities during this time and extend my heartfelt thanks to all colleagues, volunteers and partners across the Diocese and beyond who have helped achieve great things. I wish all those involved with the Cathedral and the Diocese the very best for the future.” Rachel left on February 28 with our thanks for her significant contribution and our best wishes for the future. 

Nadine Waldron of Eddowes Waldron, Solicitors, will retire as the Diocesan Registrar on 5th March 2021 in line with Section 32 Ecclesiastical Offices and Care of Church Measure 2018.  The process to appoint a new, permanent registrar is in progress. Under Section 31 of the same Measure, in her capacity as Registrar, Nadine has appointed a Deputy Registrar within Eddowes Waldron, Catherine Hackney, until a new, permanent registrar is appointed, which is hoped to be in the Autumn. Additional registrar expertise and support will be available to Catherine from a regional registrar, and sought as necessary via Eddowes Waldron. The Revd Canon Peter Walley’s appointment as Acting Archdeacon of Derby has been extended until 31 December 2021 as discussions continue about the shape of a longer-term appointment.

The Revd Kevin Ball, Rector of Calow and Sutton-cum-Duckmanton, has announced his retirement. Mr Ball’s last day in post will be 30 April, with his retirement taking effect from 1 May 2021. Mr Ball will be staying in the diocese in retirement. 

The Revd Ed Backhouse, Assistant Curate of Aston on Trent, Elvaston, Weston on Trent and Shardlow, Barrow upon Trent with Twyford and Swarkestone, has been appointed Priest-in-Charge of St Oswald’s Tile Hill, Diocese of Coventry. Mr Backhouse hopes to take up his new role in the Summer. 

The Revd Dwayne Engh, Vicar of Coventry St Mary Magdalen, Diocese of Coventry, has been appointed Ordained Ministries Development Officer, Diocese of Derby. Mr Engh will start on and be licensed in his new role on Monday 26 April by the Bishop of Derby. 

The Revd Nicky Fenton will start as Chaplain to the Bishop of Derby and Residentiary Canon of Derby Cathedral, Diocese of Derby, on Monday 1 March, with her licensing as Chaplain and collation as Residentiary Canon on Wednesday 3 March by the Bishop of Derby. Mrs Fenton will be installed as Residentiary Canon at a later date. 

The Revd Charles Jefferson, Interim Priest-in-Charge of the benefices of Walton-on-Trent with Croxall, Rosliston with Linton and Castle Gresley; of Seale and Lullington with Coton-in-the-Elms; and of Stapenhill Immanuel, has announced his retirement. Mr Jefferson’s last day in post will be 31 March, with his retirement taking effect from 1 April, 2021. Mr Jefferson will be moving away from the diocese.

The Revd Carollyn McDonald, Priest-in-Charge of Fenny Bentley, Thorpe, Tissington, Parwich and Alsop-en-le-Dale, and Acting Diocesan Director of Ordinands, has also been appointed Acting Area Dean of Carsington in the diocese for a fixed term of up to six months from 14 January 2021. 

Mrs Christine McMullen, Lay Chair of Peak and Chair of the House of Laity, Diocese of Derby, has also been appointed Acting Warden of Readers in the same diocese for a fixed term of up to three months from 14 December 2020. 

The Revd Colin Pearson, Priest-in-Charge of Chapel-en-le-Frith and Area Dean of the Peak Deanery, has been appointed Area Dean of Salford and Leigh Deanery, Diocese of Manchester. Mr Pearson will be licensed to his new post on Sunday 6 June 2021. 

The Revd Canon David Truby, Team Rector of the Wirksworth Team Ministry, has also been appointed Assistant Area Dean of Carsington in the same diocese for a fixed term of up to six months from 14 January 2021.

The Revd Alan Griggs, who presently holds the Bishop of Derby’s Permission to Officiate, has been appointed Agricultural Chaplain with Rural Action Derbyshire within the Diocese of Derby. Mr Griggs will be licensed on Thursday, 28 January at 9am by the Bishop of Derby.

The funeral of the Revd Penny Goodchild took place on Friday, 8 January at Swanwick Crematorium.

Mr Alexander Learmonth has been appointed Deputy Chancellor of the Diocese of Derby to assist the Diocesan Chancellor, the Revd Timothy Clarke. Mr Learmonth was sworn in by the Bishop of Derby on 12th January. The Chancellor and Deputy Chancellor can be contacted through the Diocesan Registry. 

The Revd Margaret Slyfield, Assistant Curate (SSM) of the Buxton with Burbage and King Sterndale Team Ministry, Diocese of Derby, has been appointed, for a fixed term of up to three months, part-time Assistant Curate (to be known as Associate Priest) in the Buxton Team Ministry to provide extra ministerial support during the Team Rector’s absence on sick leave. This took effect from 23rd January 2021.

The Revd Nigel Elliott, Priest-in-Charge of Sinfin St Stephen, Diocese of Derby, has been appointed Vicar of the same benefice following the lifting of Suspension of Presentation. Mr Elliott will be collated on Wednesday, 9 December at 3.30 pm by the Bishop of Derby and inducted at a later date.

We are pleased to announce that, during the Spring term 2021, Canon Linda Wainscot, formerly Director of Education for the Diocese of Coventry, will take up the position as Interim Diocesan Director of Education for two days a week. Also, Dr Alison Brown will continue to support headteachers and schools, offering one and two days a week as required, ensuring their Christian Distinctiveness within the diocese. Both roles will be on a consultancy basis, starting in January 2021.

The Revd Keith Cocking will be collated as Rector of Elmton with Creswell and Whitwell with Steetley, Diocese of Derby, on Monday, 11 January 2021 by the Bishop of Derby. The Archdeacon of Chesterfield will induct Mr Cocking at a later date.

Mr Edward Latham, Lay Chair of the deanery of Hardwick and formerly Lay Chair of the deanery of Alfreton, and Administrator of the Bishop of Derby’s Harvest Appeal for many years, died on 14th October 2020. The funeral will take place at 3 pm on Wednesday 21st October at St Leonard’s Shirland, followed by cremation at Amber Valley Crematorium Swanwick at 4 pm.

Following a review of staffing in the Bishop’s Office and after a period of consultation, Mrs Pippa Rowen, Chaplain (Lay) to the Bishop of Derby, will have her last working day in post on Friday, 30 October 2020.

Dr Alison Brown, Deputy Director of Education since 2003 and Acting Director of Education since 2019, has announced that she will be leaving to take up a new post as Christian Aid’s Global Neighbours Schools’ Programme Officer. Alison’s last day in post will be Sunday, 3 January 2021.

The Revd Richard Law, Team Vicar in the North Wingfield, Clay Cross and Pilsley Team Minister, with special responsibility Clay Cross and Danesmoor, has announced his retirement. Mr Law’s last day in post will be Monday, 30 November, with his retirement taking effect from Tuesday, 1 December, 2020. Mr Law will move away from the diocese in retirement.

The Revd Nick Grayshon, Vicar of Matlock Bath and Cromford,  has announced his retirement. Mr Grayshon’s last day in post will be Tuesday, 3 November, with his retirement taking effect from Wednesday, 4 November 2020. He will move away from the diocese in retirement.

The Venerable Dr Christopher Cunliffe, Archdeacon of Derby since 2006 and Acting Diocesan Director of Ordinands, Diocese of Derby, has announced his retirement. Dr Cunliffe’s last day in post will be Thursday, 31 December 2020, with his retirement taking effect from Friday, 1 January 2021, when he will move away from the diocese. Dr Cunliffe will be appointed Archdeacon Emeritus in retirement. Information about Christopher’s final service, and opportunity for farewell, will be circulated when plans are finalised.

The Revd David Lawrence-March, Priest-in-Charge of The Good Shepherd Lake and St Saviour on the Cliff, Shanklin, Diocese of Portsmouth, has been appointed Vicar of Long Eaton St Laurence and Priest-in-Charge of Ilkeston Holy Trinity, Diocese of Derby.  Mr Lawrence-March hopes to take up his new appointment before Christmas.

Mr David Channon has relinquished his post as Diocesan Director of Education, directorships of Derby Diocesan Academy Trust and of the Peak Centre at Champion House, and his Lay Canonry of Derby Cathedral with effect from 31 August 2020. Dave has been a highly valued Diocesan Director of Education since 2012 and was instrumental in the formation and development of the Diocesan Academy Trusts. Bishop Libby knows you will join her in thanking Dave for his years of dedicated service and for his lasting legacy to the work of the DBE and DDAT within our schools. We send him our very best wishes for the future.

The Revd Sarah Colver, Associate Vicar of St Mark Broomhill, Diocese of Sheffield, has been appointed Vicar of Old Brampton and Great Barlow and Priest-in-Charge of Loundsley Green (LEP), Diocese of Derby.

The Revd Keith Cocking, Team Vicar in the Buxton with Burbage and King Sterndale Team Ministry, Diocese of Derby, has been appointed Rector of Elmton with Creswell and Whitwell with Steetley in the same diocese. Mr Cocking hopes to take up his new appointment in the winter.

The Revd Canon Matt Barnes, Rector of Brampton St Thomas and Acting Director of Mission and Ministry, Diocese of Derby, has been appointed Director of Discipleship, Mission and Ministry, in the same diocese. Canon Barnes will start his new post on Tuesday, 1 September 2020 and will hold the Bishop of Derby’s licence under seal, being licensed by the Bishop on Wednesday, 2 September.

The Revd Bruce Johnson, formerly Assistant Curate of Belper Christ Church with Turnditch, Diocese of Derby, will transfer his curacy and become Assistant Curate of Ockbrook with Borrowash in the same diocese. Mr Johnson will start on Tuesday, 15 September 2020. His contact details will remain unchanged.

The Revd Gill Manley, Vicar of Blackwell and Tibshelf and Assistant Curate (Interim Minister) of Pinxton, Diocese of Derby, has announced her resignation as Interim Minister of Pinxton. Her last day in post will be Monday, 31 August 2020. Mrs Manley will continue as Vicar of Blackwell and Tibshelf.

The Revd David Hull, Curate of Mansfield Woodhouse 1990-1993 (Southwell), Priest-in-Charge of Mansfield St Lawrence 1993-2000, Vicar of Mosborough 2000-2003 (Sheffield), Vicar of Elmton 2003-2009 (Derby), Priest-in-Charge of Whitwell 2005-2009, who retired in 2010 and held the Bishop of Derby’s Permission to Officiate in retirement, died on Tuesday 4th August 2020. The funeral will take place on Tuesday 18th August at Brimington Crematorium. Following current government guidance, the service will be for close family and friends only. A service of thanksgiving for David’s life and ministry will be held at St Mary Magdalene’s Creswell next year when gathering restrictions are eased.

Dr Moore hopes to take up his new appointment in the autumn.

Revd Ian Webb will be licensed as Team Vicar in the benefice of Dronfield with Holmesfield, with particular responsibility for Holmesfield St Swithin and Holmesdale St Philip, on Monday 2 November by the Bishop of Derby.

Revd Michael and Mrs Rachel Mookerji, Retirement Chaplains in the Diocese of Derby, stood down from this role from 1st July, 2020. Revd Nicky Fenton, Priest-in-Charge of Hazelwood, Holbrook and Milford, and Assistant Chaplain to the Bishop of Derby, will also be Acting Retirement Chaplain with immediate effect whilst a review of the role takes place.

Revd Canon Paul Morris, Vicar of St Peter and Christ Church with Holy Trinity Derby and Principal Chaplain of Workplace Chaplaincy in Derbyshire and Derby City Centre Chaplaincy, has announced his retirement. Canon Morris’ last day in post will be Wednesday, 30 September, with his retirement taking effect from Thursday, 1 October 2020. Canon Morris will be appointed Canon Emeritus of Derby Cathedral in retirement and will move away from the diocese.

Revd Julian Hollywell, Vicar of Spondon and Priest-in-Charge of Chaddesden St Philip and Derby St Mark, has also been appointed Assistant Curate (to be known as Minister Responsible) of the parish of Derby St Andrew with St Osmund within the benefice of Pride Park, Wilmorton, Allenton and Shelton Lock in the same diocese. Mr Hollywell will be licensed on Thursday, 6 August by the Bishop of Derby.

Revd Ralph Lawrence, Rector of Ashover and Brackenfield with Wessington and Assistant Curate in the North Wingfield Team Ministry with specific responsibility for Handley St Mark, has announced his retirement. Mr Lawrence’s last day in post will be Wednesday, 30 September, with his retirement taking effect from Thursday. 1 October 2020.

Captain Rourke will be licensed on Thursday, 16 July by the Bishop of Derby and start his new post on Monday, 20 July.

Revd Giles Orton will be licensed as Priest-in-Charge (SSM) of Derby St Anne, Diocese of Derby, on Tuesday,  21 July at 11.30am by the Bishop of Derby.

The Venerable Dr Peter Robinson will be licensed as Assistant Curate of the parish of All Saints, and known as Dean-designate of Derby, on Saturday 4th July, by the Bishop of Derby. The licensing will take place via Zoom because of the rules on conducting church services, and will formally allow Dr Robinson to begin work, taking a full part in the life and ministry of Derby Cathedral as it reopens its doors.
Dr Robinson’s collation as Dean of Derby will become an important milestone in that process and is provisionally set for 19th July at 4 pm: it will be livestreamed from the Cathedral.

The Revd Canon Ian Gooding, Curate of Wandsworth 1973-1977 (Southwark), Priest-in-Charge of Stanton-by-Dale with Dale Abbey 1977-1987, (Derby), Rector of the same 1987-2000, Priest-in-Charge of Risley 1994-2000, Rural Dean of Erewash 1998-2012, Rector of Stanton-by-Dale with Dale Abbey and Risley 2000-2012, Honorary Canon of Derby Cathedral 2002-2012, who retired in 2012 and held the Bishop of Derby’s Permission to Officiate in retirement, died on Tuesday, 23 June 2020.

The Revd Giles Orton, Assistant Curate (SSM) of Long Eaton St Laurence and of Ilkeston Holy Trinity, Diocese of Derby, has been appointed Priest-in-Charge (SSM) of Derby St Anne in the same diocese. Mr Orton hopes to take up his new post in July.

The Revd Phil Mann, Pioneer Minister of Derby St Werburgh’s Bishop’s Mission Order, Diocese of Derby, has also been appointed Priest-in-Charge of Mackworth St Francis in the same diocese. Mr Mann will be licensed to his new post on Wednesday, 24 June by the Bishop of Derby.

The Revd Andy Bond, Associate Minister of Derby St Werburgh’s Bishop’s Mission Order, Diocese of Derby, has also been appointed Assistant Curate (to be known as Associate Minister) of Mackworth St Francis in the same diocese. Mr Bond will be licensed to his new post on Wednesday, 24 June by the Bishop of Derby.

The Revd Claire Mitchell was licensed as Assistant Curate (SSM) in Glossop (with an initial placement at New Mills), on Thursday 28th May by the Bishop of Derby.

The Revd Jo Honour, who currently holds the Bishop of Derby’s Permission to Officiate, has been appointed Chaplain to HMP Sudbury, Diocese of Derby. Mrs Honour started her new post on Friday, 1 May and was licensed on Thursday, 14 May by the Bishop of Derby.

The Revd Sally-Anne Beecham, Assistant Curate of Bakewell with Over Haddon, Ashford in the Water with Sheldon and Rowsley, and Chesterfield SS Augustine, Diocese of Derby, will transfer her curacy and become Assistant Curate of Walton St John and of Chesterfield SS Augustine in the same diocese with effect from Tuesday, 1 September 2020.

The Venerable Peter Robinson, Archdeacon of Lindisfarne, Diocese of Newcastle, has been appointed Dean of Derby.

Mrs Claire Beavis, Bishop of Derby's Personal Assistant, has resigned from her position and will be leaving her employment at the Bishop’s Office as of Wednesday, 20 May 2020. Her last working day will be Wednesday, 6 May 2020. Claire has worked in the Bishop’s Office for 9 years and has been an influential part of the team. Over the years there are many who have appreciated her care and kindness. We are immensely grateful for all her hard work and support of both Bishop Libby and Bishop Alastair’s ministries. We hope you will all join us in wishing her well with what comes next. Captain David Sanderson, CA, died on 29 March 2020.  From 1990 and until his retirement in 1998, David was the Church Army’s Decade of Evangelism Officer and a member of the Decade Team in London. David had previously been a Diocesan Missioner Officer for Holiday Evangelism in the Diocese of Norwich and had a large role in the training of the Sheffield Diocesan Lay Evangelists Team. David held the Bishop of Derby’s Permission to Officiate in retirement from 1999. His funeral took place on Thursday, 16 April 2020.

The Revd David Barnsley, Assistant Curate (known as Associate Vicar) of Duffield and Little Eaton, with specific responsibility for Little Eaton, has been appointed Assistant Curate (to be known as Associate Minister) of Trinity Church, Buxton. Mr Barnsley will start in his new post on Monday, 1 June, and will be licensed on Tuesday, 2 June at 3 pm in the Bishop’s Chapel, Duffield, by the Bishop of Derby.

The Revd Philip Bosher, Vicar of Winshill and Bretby, has also been appointed Acting Area Dean of Mercia with immediate effect.

The Revd Trevor Pearce, Curate of Cheriton Street All Souls 1967-1969 (Canterbury), Curate of Willesborough with Hinxhill 1969-1973, Vicar of Devonport St Barnabas 1973-1979 (Exeter), Chaplain to Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust 1979-1983, Vicar of Derby St Andrew with St Osmund 1983-1984 (Derby), Chaplain to Derbyshire Royal Infirmary 1983-1992, who retired in 1992 and held the Bishop of Derby’s Permission to Officiate in retirement until 2013, died on Monday, 9 March. His funeral took place on Thursday, 26 March

The Revd James Durrant will be licensed as Priest-in-Charge of Derby St Paul and Assistant Curate (Associate Minister) of Derby St Alkmund and St Werburgh, Diocese of Derby, on Tuesday, 5 May at 7.30 pm in the Bishop’s Chapel, Duffield, by the Bishop of Derby. Due to the suspension of public church services, the Revd Alexandrina (Alex) Mann will now be licensed as Priest-in-Charge of Heath, Diocese of Derby, in the Bishop’s Chapel, Duffield, on Monday, 6 April at 7.30 pm by the Bishop of Derby. The Revd Helen Thake, Chaplain to HMP Sudbury, Diocese of Derby, has retired. Her last day in post was 13 February with her retirement starting on 14 February 2020. Mrs Thake is in the process of transferring to holding the Bishop of Derby’s Permission to Officiate. Her contact details remain the same.

The Revd Chris Andrew’s post as Interim Assistant Curate (known as Interim Priest) of Morton and Stonebroom with Shirland, Diocese of Derby, came to an end on 25 February 2020. We very much appreciate the work Chris has done in these parishes, equipping them to move on in their mission and outreach.

The Revd Dr Simon Cartwright, Team Vicar in the Walbrook Epiphany Team Ministry, Diocese of Derby, has also been appointed Acting Area Dean of Derby City with immediate effect.

Mr Julian Hodgson has been appointed Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser (DSA) in the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham. Julian has been a key member of the Derby Church House team since joining in February 2009. During this time, he has been instrumental in raising the profile of safeguarding within the Church of England and ensuring our own policies, procedures and training meet and exceed the needs of the diocese. He has been supporting Southwell and Nottingham on an interim part-time basis since January and he will take up his new full-time role on 22 June 2020. We will start the recruitment process to fill the DSA vacancy in the Diocese of Derby very soon. We are grateful for all Julian has done and wish him well in his new role. His last day with us will be Friday 19 June 2020.

The Revd Gill Manley stepped down from her role as Area Dean from 1 March 2020. She will continue as Vicar of Blackwell and Tibshelf and, for the time being, as Assistant Curate (Interim Minister) of Pinxton.

The Revd Julian Hollywell, Vicar of Spondon, Diocese of Derby, has also been appointed Priest-in-Charge of Chaddesden St Philip and Derby St Mark in the same diocese. Mr Hollywell was licensed on Monday, 24 February in the Bishop’s Chapel at Duffield by the Bishop of Derby.

The Revd Cath Hollywell, Assistant Curate (known as Pioneer Curate) of Pride Park,Wilmorton, Allenton and Shelton Lock, Diocese of Derby, has been appointed Pioneer Minister of the Journey Community Bishop’s Mission Order in the parish of Derby St Andrew with St Osmund. Mrs Hollywell will be licensed to her new post on Sunday, 1 March at 2.30 pm at St Osmund’s Church Hall, London Road by the Bishop of Repton.

The Revd Susie Curtis, previously licenced in the Diocese of Derby, has been appointed Interim Assistant Curate (to be known as Associate Minister) of Derby St Alkmund and St Werburgh in the same diocese. Mrs Curtis will be licensed on Sunday, 16 February at St Alkmund’s Derby by the Bishop of Repton.

The Revd Jane Lyon, Assistant Curate (SSM) of Belper St Peter, Diocese of Derby, has announced her retirement. Miss Lyon’s last day in post will be Saturday, 14 March, with her retirement taking effect from Sunday, 15 March 2020. Miss Lyon is in the process of transferring to holding the Bishop of Derby’s Permission to Officiate.

The Revd Carolyn Baker, Assistant Curate (SSM) in the Dronfield with Holmesfield Team Ministry from 2018 (Derby), died on Saturday, 4 January 2020. A Service of Thanksgiving for Revd Carolyn was held on Monday, 20 January 2020 at St John the Baptist Dronfield following a private family cremation.

The Revd Beth Honey, Pioneer Minister in the Derwent Ward of Derby, has also been appointed Diocesan Pioneer and Fresh Expressions Enabler in the same diocese with immediate effect.

The Revd Dr Martin Jones, Assistant Curate (OLM) of the Denby Group, has announced his retirement. Dr Jones’ last day in post will be Friday, 31 January 2020, with his retirement taking effect from Saturday, 1 February 2020. Dr Jones will be staying in the diocese and applying for Permission to Officiate.

The Revd Carollyn McDonald has been appointed Assistant Diocesan Director of Ordinands with immediate effect, alongside her present roles as Priest-in-Charge and Assistant Priest in the Carsington Deanery.

The Revd Alexandrina (Alex) Mann, Curate (Associate Minister) of Branston, Cannon and Huntingdon, Diocese of Lichfield, has been appointed Priest-in-Charge of Heath, Diocese of Derby. Mr Mann will be licensed on Monday, 6 April at 7.30 pm at All Saints Heath by the Bishop of Derby assisted by the Archdeacon of Chesterfield. 

The Revd Lindsay Pearson, Assistant Curate of Chesterfield Ss Augustine, Diocese of Derby, has been appointed Vicar of Blackpool St Mary's Squires Gate & School Chaplain of St George's School Blackpool, Diocese of Blackburn.

The Revd Margaret Slyfield will be licensed as Assistant Curate (SSM - to be known as Associate Priest) in the Buxton with Burbage and King Sterndale Team Ministry, on Tuesday, 11 February 2020 at 7.30 pm at Christ Church Burbage by the Bishop of Repton.

The Revd Andrew Taylor-Cook, Vicar of the Benefice of the Denby Group, has been appointed Rector of St Peter's Peebles and St Andrew's Innerleithen, Diocese of Edinburgh, within the Scottish Episcopal Church. Mr Taylor-Cook hopes to take up his appointment in the spring.

The Revd April Tompkins, Assistant Curate (SSM) of St Peter, Belper, has retired. Mrs Tompkins’ last day in post was Monday, 30 December 2019, with her retirement taking effect from Tuesday, 31 December 2019. Mrs Tompkins has been granted the Bishop of Derby’s Permission to Officiate in retirement.

The Revd Rachel Williams was licensed as Assistant Curate (SSM - to be known as Associate Priest) of Bolsover, on Tuesday, 14 January 2020 by the Bishop of Repton.

Mr Alistair Langton, Diocesan Youth Adviser, Diocese of Derby, will resign in January 2020. His last day in post will be Friday, 31 January 2020. Mr Langton will continue in a voluntary capacity as a Vocations Adviser and member of the Vocations Reference Group as well as a Facilitator for the Certificate in Theology, Mission & Ministry.

The Revd Peter Davey, Vicar of Cotmanhay and Shipley, Diocese of Derby, has announced his retirement. Mr Davey’s last day in post will be Thursday, 30 January 2020, with his retirement taking effect from Friday, 31 January 2020. Mr Davey will move away from Diocese.

The Revd Owain Mitchell will be instituted as Vicar of New Mills, Diocese of Derby, on Thursday, 6 February 2020 at 7pm at St George’s New Mills by the Bishop of Derby and inducted by the Archdeacon of Chesterfield.

The Revd Marcia Bown, Assistant Curate (known as Associate Minister) of the North Wingfield Team Ministry, with special responsibility for Tupton, Diocese of Derby, has announced her retirement. Mrs Bown’s last day in post will be Monday, 23 December 2019 with her retirement taking effect from Tuesday, 24 December 2019. Mrs Bown will continue to live in the Diocese after retirement.

The Revd David Horsfall, Rector of Chesterfield Holy Trinity and Christ Church, Diocese of Derby, has announced his retirement. Mr Horsfall’s last day in post will be 30 May 2020 with his retirement taking effect from 31 May 2020. Mr Horsfall will continue to live in the Diocese after retirement.

The Revd Phyllis Bainbridge, who holds the Bishop of Derby’s Permission to Officiate, has been appointed Rector of Anslow, Rolleston and Tutbury, Diocese of Lichfield. Mrs Bainbridge will be licensed to her new post on Saturday, 14 December 2019.

The Revd Owain Mitchell, Vicar of the United Benefice of Brigg, Wrawby and Cadney-cum-Howsham, with the benefices of Worlaby and Bonby, Diocese of Lincoln, has been appointed Vicar of New Mills. Mr Mitchell hopes to take up this post in the New Year.
