A Church Near You is the Church of England’s website with information about ALL the churches in the Diocese (and in the country). It is used in many Church of England campaigns as a landing page for people to find out more about their local churches, particularly at Christmas and Easter.

But it does lots more besides and is a great way to let people know about your church and events. You can even use it as your church’s main website! In this session, we’ll look at how to make it work for you.

Social Media for Beginners

If you’ve thought about using Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to get your message, mission and events out to a wider audience but aren’t really sure how to get started, then this is an ideal workshop to get you on the right path. This workshop is for beginners. In it, we’ll look at setting up your accounts and pages, how to use them, how (and what) to post and we’ll look at ideas and best practice.

How does Twitter work? How can you use it as a church? This workshop is an introduction to this popular Social media platform to get you up and running.

The media can be a wonderful conduit between you and your audience and in this workshop, we’ll look at how to work with journalists, as well as press releases and crisis management.

Facebook is a great way to engage with those who are already engaged with the Church and to reach out beyond them. This workshop is for those who are just getting started with Facebook and want to make their church’s page work and grow.

Instagram is a social media platform that is particularly popular with younger people but also reaches many who are on the verge of becoming engaged with the Church. The platform is very much image-centric. This workshop will get you up and running on Instagram and a basic understanding of the main features.

 Social Media- Getting More Advanced

To come on this workshop, you need to have a reasonable basic understanding of social media and already using it. If you’ve been on our beginner’s course, that’s fine!
