Former Florist Angela Plummer

Angela Plummer, a former florist, is to be ordained deacon by the Bishop of Derby, Alastair Redfern, on Sunday 30th June (10.45am) at Derby Cathedral. She will subsequently be taking on the role of Assistant curate at St Michael with St Mary, Melbourne.

Angela is originally from Rotherham but has lived in Wingerworth for 24 years. She is married to John with 2 grown up daughters.

Before training for ministry she had previously owned and ran 2 florist businesses with husband John for 18 years before having a complete change of direction in order to pursue her call to ordination. For the past 4 years she has worked part time for the church in Wingerworth as a Connecting with Families Co-ordinator.

Angela said “Although I see myself as a late starter on my journey of faith I recognise that the whole of my life has been a preparation for my ministry and for this very precious time of my life.

Whilst it will be strange to be leaving Wingerworth, it is, at the same time exciting to be moving to Melbourne, and I very much look forward to getting to know the people of Melbourne, Smisby, Stanton by Bridge and Ticknall, and to working with the Rev’d Dr. Mark Powell and most of all to seeing what God has planned for me in this next step of my journey- he has never ceased to amaze me yet!”
