This is a small and dedicated group of ecumenical volunteers. 

Practical activities from the group 

  • offering an information stand at clergy conference Nov 2019 with the support of All Saints Wingerworth
  • training on Eco Church in the Learning in Faith programme (Community section)
  • a mailing to all PCCs and incumbents July 2019 about Climate Emergency anticipated to be on General Synod agenda Feb 2020
  • pilot development of Derbyshire Churches Environment Network beginning October 2019
  • Supporting related activity at Derby University at the Multi Faith Centre autumn 2019
  • the presentation at June 2019 Synod update report about progress on Eco Diocese and offering reasons to make a policy against fracking
  • a paper for the Parsonages Committee on Solar PV
  • architect training partnered with DAC
  • advice to individual parishes and offering presentations or preachers as requested

The Derbyshire Churches Envirnment Network is run through the Committee and may be a good place to link up with Committee members. Events will be poisted in 'Whats Happening' section along with other local or partner events.

Send her invites to your events and permission to share them, or news of progress in your patch for us to celebrate and also to the Communications Team. If your PCC are talking about making Environmental changes or if you register as an Ecochurch or obtain an award would you inform her. 

There are a number of people who are willing to come and support you locally and preach on Environmental issues, both licensed Readers and clergy.Nominations to join us are welcome.

Offers technical support and advice on sustainability issues, including facilitating decision-making processes, and the design and diagnosis of heating and renewable energy systems. He is a member of the DAC and on the board of Operation Noah.

 

Richard Henderson Smith

World Mission and Development Officer with the role to remind people about the urgent and ongoing needs of those most at risk and deprived beyond our horizon. He points out that the impact on the planet and it resources impact the poorest in the world.

He presented particular facts on health and fracking June 2019 Synod.

A founder of Derby Carbon Initiative, two local transition groups, national REconomy project and a director of Air Fuel Synthesis Ltd. Placed 10kW solar PV system on local grade 1 listed parish church.

Passionate about delivering new socio-environmental economic models. He is also our link to Whistlewood Common who have constructed an award winning straw bale building near Melbourne.
