The Environment Committee: contact us

This is a small and dedicated group of volunteers. 

Practical activities led by the group include 

  • training on Eco Church in the Learning in Faith programme
  • the motion at June 2018 Diocesan Synod where we decided to become an Eco Diocese,
  • a paper for the Parsonages Committee on Solar PV, 
  • architect training partnered with DAC,
  • advice to individual parishes,
  • a local performance of Baked Alaska at Melbourne Festival.

Nominations to join us are welcome. We can meet your PCC or you could to come along to meet the committee to share perspectives.

Community Action Officer in the Mission and Ministry Team, Diocese of Derby, facilitating the group and link officer to the portfolio postholder- currently vacant. Actively recruiting to the membership of this group from parishes and other denominations, updating the website and editing Find newsletter (contact her to receive the next issue). Invitations wanted to your next chapter meeting, Deanery Synod or PCC to talk about Eco church or to offer the exisitng training to you locally. Offers technical support and advice on sustainability issues, including facilitating decision-making processes, and the design and diagnosis of heating and renewable energy systems. He is a member of the DAC and on the board of Operation Noah.

 

Richard Henderson Smith

World Mission and Development Officer with the role to remind people about the urgent and ongoing needs of those most at risk

and deprived beyond our horizon. He points out that the impact on the planet and it resources impact the poorest in the world.

Graham Truscott

A founder of Derby Carbon Initiative, two local transition groups, national REconomy project and a director of Air Fuel Synthesis Ltd. Placed 10kW solar PV system on local grade 1 listed parish church.

Passionate about delivering new socio-environmental economic models. He is also our link to Whistlewood Common who are currently constructing a straw bale building near Melbourne.
