Safeguarding Foundation:

A safeguarding course for all volunteers, paid staff and clergy who hold responsibility for the safeguarding of others within church settings or has contact in thier church role with children, young people and / or vulnerable adults. Prior to attending this course attendees should have completed the online Safeguarding Basic Awareness course which is available here: https://safeguardingtraining.cofeportal.org/ .  Following attending the course you may wish to download and read the Fact Sheet on Abuse Types.

Safeguarding Leadership

The course is required for anyone who has safeguarding leadership responsibilities and/or leads activities involving children and/or vulnerable adults. It is open to Church of England Clergy and those with Bishops permission to Officiate, Readers, Curates, Parish Safeguarding Links, Church Wardens, PCC members and anyone responsible for volunteers or leading activities as described above.  Prior to taking this course participants should have completed a safeguarding foundation course.

C3 Safeguarding for Oversight

The C3 Course has been taken out of the Safeguarding training Program.  Those who previously completed, or were expecting to complete C3 should now complete Foundation and Leadership Training alongside Laity.


S3 Responding to Domestic Abuse:

This specialist training module aims to examine issues relating to domestic abuse, and how the Church can respond well to this.  It is open to worshippers in Church of England churches who have completed Foundation and Leadership training.  The course is mandatory for all Clergy and Readers. Safeguarding training can raise sensitive issues.

PSO Events:

These events are open to Parish Safeguarding Officers and Deanery Safeguarding Links. The Programmes will be announced and communicated to attendees nearer the time.

Safeguarding Audit Dashboard Events:

These events will cover the purpose of the Safeguarding Audit, an introduction to the Safeguarding Audit Dashboard, including an overiview of what the new dashboard offers, how it works and why it is beneficial for parishes.  It is open to  Parish Safeguarding Officers and Deanery Safeguarding Links in Derby Diocese Church of England churches
