Safeguarding Training

From this page you can view and book safeguarding training sessions.

In short, everyone who works for and/or volunteers for the Diocese of Derby needs some level of training.

Safeguarding Training Matrix May 2022

The matrix, which can be downloaded here for reference, is subject to change as the National Safeguarding team and House of Bishops implement changes.

The five modules which are most usually needed are listed below. Please note: Basic, Foundations and Domestic Abuse are national e-learning courses. Other courses (Safer Recruitment, Leadership, PSO Induction and PtO) must be completed on Zoom by booking in to a course.

We are now offering an optional Domestic Abuse drop-in session for anyone who has completed the national e-learning Domestic Abuse course, where issues can be discussed and questions answered. Please book onto this in the normal way, following the link below.

Each term we offer two ‘in person’ Training Days delivering Basic, Foundations and Leadership. These take place at venues across the diocese and are provided only for those completely unable to do e-learning or Zoom sessions. For more information on bookings please contact judie.fogarty@derby.anglican.org

Nick Harding delivers the training for Derby Diocese. For more information on the content of training please contact nick.harding@derby.anglican.org

Parish Safeguarding Officers should also see the Resources for Parish Safeguarding Officers page which lists specific training which is applicable only to their role or that of DBS Administrators.
