 Full time, permanent stipendiary role

 Set in a lively, thriving market town in the High Peak these two churches are working together across the area pioneering exciting mission amongst children, young people and in a deprived housing estate.

They seek an enthusiastic, pastorally hearted, missional priest to work with them to:

• Grow the churches, reaching out to more people and making new disciples

• Nurture a rich variety of church experience and worship tradition, reviewing and refreshing the mechanisms and provision that support church members in deepening their faith and encouraging lay ministry

• Develop the ministry, mission and community partnerships already in place and create new initiatives and partnerships in response to identified needs and missional opportunities 

• Lead the Growing Faith Hub across Glossopdale, investing in work with children and young people, actively recruiting and training volunteers, strengthening relationships with schools and children/youth organisations, exploring potential for forming new worshipping communities with schools 

• Increase the Christian presence in Simmondley and re-establish a church presence in Gamesley

• Support the churches in becoming financially sustainable into the future

You would be supported by a strong team of volunteers with a heart and passion for reaching out in creative and innovative ways and a commitment to team working across boundaries to build God’s kingdom.

We are seeking an inspiring and compassionate Vicar to lead our parish community in faith, worship, and mission. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated priest to help us grow spiritually, engage with our local community, and nurture discipleship.

The area has hundreds of thousands of visitors exploring the story of self-sacrifice during the plague at Eyam, remembering the battle of Agincourt, visiting Chatsworth House or climbing, walking and cycling on the wild moors and gritstone edges.

These three Parishes (All Saints, Ripley and St. Andrew’s, Swanwick with St. Matthew’s, Pentrich) on the eastern side of Derbyshire have been working together for three years as ‘The Butterley Churches’. They cover a range of contexts and communities: post-industrial market town, large commuter village and rural, and are growing in their relationships together. They are within a few miles of one another and are praying for a leader who can take them on the next stage of their journey, formalising their grouping through pastoral re-organisation and working with them to renew and refresh a vision for all that God can do in them and through them.

These rural parishes lie on the edge of the City of Derby giving easy access to beautiful rural Derbyshire Dales and the Peak District but also within 15 minutes drive of vibrant city life.

The Parish of Staveley and Barrow Hill is situated on the outskirts of Chesterfield, with a medieval Parish church in Staveley town and a daughter church in the village of Inkersall. Staveley is approximately half an hour from the Peak District National Park and is ideally situated for exploring neighbouring towns and cities. Proximity to the M1 and A1 affords good communication.

Since 1973 the Parish has been constituted as a Team Ministry now resourced by a Team Rector and Team Vicar.
