You are welcome to contact Samuel via samuel.ojok@derby.anglican.org.
Take a moment to read the May issue of Green Ideas.
The next local Environment Network is being rescheduled. It is open to anyone in a parish with an interest.
Contact us with any environmental queries and/or if you register as an Eco church or obtain an award. It would be great to tell your story.
Send in notice of your local events, good news stories, photos and events to share on the "What's Happening" page. The national church is actively seeking Environmental case studies from this area: focus renewables / transport / schools / community activity.
If your PCC are talking about making Environmental changes, there are a number of people who are willing to support you and who will preach on environmental issues, both licensed readers and clergy.

All applications for works to churches can be made through the online faculty system.
Registering with the online faculty system (OFS):
It is recommended that each parish nominates at least two people who will register their church onto the system and administer faculty applications on behalf of the PCC.
All requests to register will have to be approved by the DAC secretary to ensure only those who have a right to use the system can do so.
Nominees could be one of the clergy and a churchwarden, the church treasurer, PCC member or parish secretary/administrator.
The OFS can be accessed by going to the following link.
https://facultyonline.churchofengland.org
Please click on "Register" at the top of the home page and complete your details and submit.
The DAC office will then recieve an email and one of us has to 'approve' your registration.
Please note that when you register there is one tab saying 'identity', into which you write contact details and another labelled 'profile'.
On the profile section please write/select the church for which you are representing - otherwise even if you are approved you will not be able to start an application.
Anyone experiencing difficulties with their online application should contact the DAC office.
Kat Alldread (DAC Secretary) can be contacted by email: DAC@derby.anglican.org
Ministerial Development Review (MDR)
MDR is a shared process of reflection and discernment in which you and the reviewer assigned to you by the Bishop explore and articulate how your ministry is developing in your local context.
As disciples of Christ, we all seek to go on learning and growing in faith, and this is especially so for those of us who serve, lay and ordained, as leaders in the church. We do so in mutual relationship, as part of Christ’s body. The Ordinal speaks of a shared ministry, a working together within the Body of Christ. This implies a mutual accountability. Our wellbeing and further development in ministry invite regular reflection in changing times and contexts.
We pray that this will be a blessing both to you and to those you minister amongst. Your wellbeing as a person and as a priest is at the heart of this process. It is our hope that all clergy will find MDR both affirming and encouraging, as together we consider the part we play in God’s mission here in this Diocese of Derby. We hope that you will make the most of this opportunity so that your ministry can flourish and thrive.
The MDR scheme is co-ordinated by Archdeacon Nicky and administered by Julie Fowler at the Parish Support Office at Church House. Email: MDRadmin@derby.anglican.org
The documentation you will need to complete your MDR along with guides to help you through the process can be found below.

What is MAP?
MAP stands for Mission Action Planning. The main purpose of MAP is to listen and discern the will of God for your church and its community. It is about looking at what is happening in your parish and as a church community considering the direction that you think your church should be heading. Once you have established a vision for your church you then set yourselves priorities for your church for each of the following 3 years and then plan the specific steps you need to take to deliver these goals. At the end of each year we will ask you to review your action so that you can adjust your plan accordingly.
Finding the right direction for your Church
Let’s imagine someone has a free day and they want to go on a new walk. They get out their map and need to consider the following:
1. Where will they start from?
2. Where are they going, what is their destination?
3. What’s the best way to get there?
4. What do they need to do now?
Well that’s exactly the process we follow for mission action planning:
As churches begin to consider where God is calling them, what direction they should take and which path they should follow, then these same questions are relevant.
Creationtide / Season of Creation
Creationtide or the Season of Creation is the period in the annual church calendar, from 1 September to 4 October, dedicated to God as Creator and Sustainer of all life.

A prayer for Harvest
Loving God,
we give thanks for those who produce our food:
for farmers and fishermen, factory and shop workers.
We pray for those for whom this has been a difficult year:
farmers who have battled the weather to grow food,
delivery drivers and shop workers who kept working despite the pandemic.
Help us to value and support each other.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.
